Sep 18 , 2017 Words from SAIF MF Summer Camp ParticipantsThe 4-day SAIF MF Summer Camp dropped its curtain and the participants will soon part from each other. However, their excitement and reluctance to leave still lingers. In addition to new friendship, let’s also listen to their lessons and insights. 【A Glance at SAIF】 The participants came from all over the country and met at Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance. What’s their impression on SAIF and peers? "Professionalism", "Internationalization" and "Diversification" are three key words most frequently cited in their responses, which were also their reasons for coming to SAIF. "SAIF boasts quality educational environment, international vision and exchange opportunities, which paves the way for further education." –Yining Jin, Shanghai Jiao Tong University "I really love the school. SAIF attracted me with its quantitative courses. And it’s like a family. During my internship, my manager is a graduate of SAIF MF 2010, who cancelled his dinner appointment with a customer when he came to know that I would take part in the Summer Camp, and shared his experience at SAIF. It was really touching." –Hao Ban, Peking University "SAIF's information session in Taiwan attracted me to come here. SAIF’s resources, diverse student community and distinguished faculty are all appealing." –Wei-An Tung, National Taiwan University The respondents also recognized the outstanding peers, who are good at painting, music and aerial photography. There was even a National Grade 2 Go Athlete! "I think the other participants are all amazing and have made a number of like-minded friends. I really like them," said Yingzhi Wang from Fudan University. For her, such friendship is one of the greatest accomplishments in the Summer Camp. 【Favorite Events】 During the Summer Camp, every event was well planned. However, "there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people's eyes". So what are their favorite events? "Lego Serious Play" impressed me most. Though I used to consider Lego as a toy for young kids, this time, it became a game of teamwork, which helped us think out of box, create models and tell stories. It was quite innovative. –Yingzhi Wang, Fudan University The opening ceremony on the evening of Day 1 was impressive, during which all participants introduced themselves, full of sense of humor and intimacy. It also helped me make friends with my team members quickly. –Mengfei Liu, Tsinghua University Panel discussion is my favorite event. I keep an eye on news on internet industry, but most of the reports are superficial. During the event, the guests reviewed our app designs and showed the real concerns of an investor on an internet-based project. It was fruitful. –Yiwei Chu, Shanghai Jiao Tong University I love the lectures most. Prof. Zhan Jiang, Alan and the speakers from Reuters are all financial professionals, who delivered numerous helpful information. –Kemian Hu, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law 【Who/What Impressed You Most】 It must be Alan. I always admire people with outstanding competency. He is quite experienced and responded to our questions with passion. During the Industry Talk, he told plenty of hotspot stories in the financial world, which benefited us a lot. –Zixuan Cao, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Ban Hao, one of my roommates, who features sound financial expertise, so do many other peers. I learnt a lot from them. –Yirui Luo, Sichuan University During the group work, the jury not only questioned the feasibility of our health app, but also helped us improve it. With our efforts, our idea was recognized at the presentation on that evening. The process led us to think about the logic behind business and the feasibility of a business plan. The experience is quite meaningful and impressive. –Yiming Lu, Tsinghua University As to their areas of improvement, the respondents engaged in reflection and came to a number of conclusions, for example, on proactive communication. We all believe that they will further hone themselves with endless efforts. The participants also submitted their advices and comments on this Summer Camp, which will help us create a better program in the future.
