In 2018, SAIF began its 10-year strategic partnership with the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. The two schools will form a long-term strategic collaboration for the continued development of SAIF into a premier school of finance within China and internationally. The joint effort will cover broad and important areas including strategic development, academic research, societal impact, and educational programs.

As part of this strategic collaboration, the Advanced Finance Program (AFP) was launched in June 2019. As Wharton's first financial management program launched in China with a local partner, the AFP is a premium finance program co-designed by both schools and tailored for Chinese business leaders. The program, whose target participants are senior management and decision makers within companies, has a duration of 18 months and delivers courses both in China and the United States. Upon completion of the program, students will be granted dual SAIF and Wharton alumni status.
