Scholarship

A large portion of our admitted MF students receive a merit-based scholarship. 

MF offers several scholarship categories to our admitted students to recognize their achievements and needs, ranging from merit-based, need-based, to contribution awards.

 

  Domestic Students (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan): ​
 
Merit-based Scholarships​
Incoming domestic students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships awarded by SAIF MF, based on students’ academic excellence as well as their performance in the admission evaluation activities. Up to full domestic tuition scholarships will be awarded. ​
 
Need-Based Scholarships (Domestic Students Only)​
Need-Based Scholarships apply to domestic students only, and application is needed. The grant of the need-based scholarships is subject to the recognition of the SJTU family financial difficulties and the assessment by SAIF. More details will be available after program enrollment.​
 
MF Contribution Awards ​
MF contribution awards are for students who made great contribution towards SAIF and the MF program prior to their official registration (e.g. volunteering at SAIF and MF marketing and admission events).​
 
 

The above merit-based and need-based scholarships can be accumulative, but the total amount of the awards shall not exceed the total tuition fees of each academic year. ​

 
  International Students ​​
 
Apply for Scholarships through Shanghai Jiao Tong University ​​
SJTU offers various scholarships for excellent applicants, such as the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS/CSC), Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS), and SJTU Scholarship.
CGS/CSC Scholarships are sponsored by the Chinese government to support international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research at Chinese universities. Up to full-tuition scholarships will be awarded. If not recommended as a CGS/CSC Scholarship candidate, the applicant will be automatically assessed for the SGS Scholarship, or SJTU Scholarship. Please refer to Fall 2025 SJTU International Graduate Admission for specific requirements and deadlines. ​​
 
Apply for Scholarships through Chinese Embassies/Consulates in the Home Country ​​
Apply for Scholarships through Chinese Embassies/Consulates in the Home Country Applicants may also apply to the Chinese Embassies/Consulates in the home country for scholarship opportunities. The application schedule varies from country to country (usually from November to April). Please consult the Chinese Embassy/Consulate about its application schedule, eligibility, requirements, procedures, documents, agency number, program category type and other details in advance. For the contact information of Chinese Embassies/Consulates, please visit the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China at http://www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/.
Note: Applicants may choose only one of the above application channels. Replicated applications through more than one channel are not allowed. ​​
 
SAIF MF Merit-Based Scholarships (Global Impact Scholarships) ​​
Incoming international students are automatically considered for Global Impact Scholarships awarded by SAIF MF, based on students’ academic excellence and performance in the admission evaluation. Quarter to full- international tuition scholarships will be awarded.
 
 

The above CSC/SGS/SJTU and Global Impact Scholarships can be accumulative, but the total amount of the awards shall not exceed the total tuition fees for each academic year.​​

Note: All first-year scholarships are subject to annual review and may be adjusted for the 2nd academic year.
