Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance ThinkTank

The Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) ThinkTank is a policy research institution created by the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Its mandate is to convene experts and scholars worldwide to conduct research on strategic, forward-looking policy issues related to China's economic and financial development based on the state policy context and mission deployment. Areas of focus include advancing Shanghai as an international financial center, Fintech, financial innovation and sustainable finance. It presents research reports and recommendations to financial management departments and  carries out research assignments delegated by pertinent management departments.

In addition to providing policy recommendations and academic insights to China's financial regulators, the SAIF ThinkTank also undertakes research tasks commissioned by relevant government agencies. Committed to its mission of "building a leading think tank focused on national policies", the SAIF ThinkTank stays abreast of the latest global economic and financial trends and issues.

Leveraging the research capabilities of the China Academy of Financial Research and Shanghai Advanced Institute of Financial Research, the SAIF ThinkTank will generate high-quality, actionable policy research to support government decision-making. It has hosted high-level seminars and conferences, including the Shanghai International Financial Center Development Forum. Through these efforts, the SAIF ThinkTank aspires to become a world-class financial think tank producing impactful academic and policy-oriented research.

Since its inception, the SAIF ThinkTank has aligned its work with national economic and financial policy priorities. It has submitted analytical reports and policy recommendations to government bodies and contributed extensively to policy research and decision support. Multiple research outputs have been recognized by national leaders or adopted by authoritative agencies like the Ministry of Education and General Office of the State Council.
