Application Overview

The admissions committee looks for outstanding merit in test scores, undergraduate academic performance, extracurricular activities, and (professional) internship experiences. We are looking for applicants from a variety of educational backgrounds, and we review each application holistically.

Students can opt to apply to either General Track or FinTech Track. Applicants from all major backgrounds are welcome to apply. Students must hold a Bachelor's degree before program enrollment.

 

General Track
Successful candidates are expected to possess a solid understanding of their major fields and a good command of finance knowledge. Some training in science, engineering, and math will be a plus. Applicants enjoy a wide range of interest in finance or financial services as their future career goals, such as IB, PE/VC, consulting, etc.

 

FinTech Track
Successful candidates should demonstrate substantial knowledge in math and statistics, a good command of programming language(s), and some knowledge of computer science. Candidates are likely to be more interested in working in a FinTech company or FinTech-related business after graduation.

Step 1: Complete MF online application
Complete and submit an online application at MF International Student Application before the application deadline.

 

Step 2: Attend an Interview (Invitation Only)
Interviews are by invitation only. An invitation to interview thus signals that your application has reached an advanced stage of consideration, but does not guarantee admission. For candidates who are not able to participate in on-site interviews, we will schedule online interviews. Please note that we make every effort to conduct interviews on weekdays and during business hours.

 

Step 3: Complete Application on the SJTU Portal
All candidates admitted to the program need to complete the application steps on the Shanghai Jiao Tong University portal: https://apply.sjtu.edu.cn. For outstanding applicants, students can apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship. More information can be found in the Financial Aid section and Scholarship section at Study@SJTU.

Application Materials:
- A completed online application form;
- Current Resumes/CV;
- Official university transcript;
- Copy of graduation certificates (if graduated);
- Two reference letters;
- Essays;
- Photocopy of the information page of your passport;
- TOEFL or IELTS (view language requirements for waiver eligibility);
- GRE or GMAT(recommended but not required);
- Optional: CPA/CFA certifications;

Note: If your documents are not in English or Chinese, please have them translated into either English or Chinese by an authorized translation agency. Then upload both the translated and original documents onto the application system.

 

Application Deadlines:

The Admissions Committee gives every application the fullest possible review. Please allow up to 8 weeks after each application deadline to get your admissions decisions.

Round 1: Dec 15, 2023 Deadline for 1st Round Chinese Government Scholarship application

Round 2*: Feb 15, 2024 Deadline for 2nd (Last) Round Chinese Government Scholarship application

Round 3: Mar 31, 2024 Deadline for SGS Scholarship, SJTU Scholarship application

Round 4: May 31, 2024 Deadline for self-supported application

Eligibility: Students must be graduating students who can acquire exam exemption status from top undergraduate institutions in China. Applicants must possess outstanding English skills, have a strong quantitative background, and are committed to studying finance.

 

Step 1: Complete MF online application for Mini camp or Summer Camp (during Junior year)
Applicants need to apply for Mini camp or Summer camp through MF's online application portal during Junior Year. Candidates (invitation only) will go through admissions activities.

 

Step 2: Obtain Exam Exemption Status Documentation
Check with undergraduate institution and obtain exam exemption status documentation.

 

Step 3: National Graduate Admissions System Confirmation
Sign up for SAIF MF program and confirm in the National Graduate Admissions system.
