Professor Yang Pang is an Affiliate Professor at Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Professor Yang Pang has 20 years’ research experience in theoretical physics and over 20 years’ working experience in the financial services industry. During the past ten years,  Professor Yang Pang has been actively involved in the renewable energy sector, and founded several renewable energy companies in Japan and China, including projects in Europe and Australia. He has unique insights on different aspects of renewable energies, from technological paths and business models, to financial instruments.

Prior to relocating to China,  Professor Yang Pang was a partner and an investment committee member of a large global hedge fund headquartered in US. He was responsible for the investment strategies, product design, investment analysis, information technology, and risk management of various quantitative driven investment funds.

Before entering the financial services industry,  Professor Yang Pang was an Assistant Professor of Physics at Columbia University. He studied under Nobel laureate Professor T.D. Lee, and later worked together with Professor Lee for many years on quantum field theory, general relativity and other areas of theoretical physics.

Professor Yang Pang received a Ph.D.in Physics from Columbia University.
