The 2024 CGMA Global Finance and Accounting Talent Summit was convened on April 11th in Pudong, Shanghai. The summit was jointly hosted by the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU),  the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA), and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). The event focused on the future transformation of finance talents in the digital era and the sustainable development of green finance. The summit aimed to provide advice for the construction of a high-level international talent highland and an international leading talent zone in Pudong—as well as for the development of Shanghai into a globally influential international financial center and for the high-quality development of China.

The summit was attended by leaders and academic experts, including: Guangshao TU (Executive Director of SAIF), Barry C. Melancon (Global Chief Executive Officer of AICPA & CIMA), Hui Zhang (Deputy Director of Shanghai Pudong Financial Bureau), Li Feng (Deputy Dean of SAIF), and Xiaobo Xia (Director of Pudong International Financial Research and Service Center, Director of Financial Stability Promotion Center of Shanghai Pudong New Area). More than 20 domestic and international industry experts and scholars participated in panel discussions, and over two hundred finance professionals attended the summit.

Guangshao Tu delivered a keynote address entitled "Five Articles on Finance and the Construction of New Financial Talents," highlighting the shortage of talents in the fields of Fintech, Digital Finance, and Sustainable Finance. He emphasized the need for joint efforts to cultivate new talents who possess knowledge in both science and technology as well as finance, and are capable of integrating the two into practical applications. SAIF has launched course systems in Innovation Finance and Fintech, and plans to introduce a sustainable finance course this year. The institute has also established research centers in Innovation Finance, Fintech, and Sustainable Investment to support research efforts. Tu expressed his hope for SAIF, AICPA, and CIMA to collaborate in financial talent cultivation and build a strong financial talent team in China.

Barry C. Melancon, CPA, CGMA, delivered a keynote address titled "Intelligent Treasury: The Road to Career Transformation and Innovation in the Digital Era," while Feng Li spoke on "Analyzing Data Assets into the Table: The Road to Cross-border Innovation in the Finance and Banking Sector." Xiaobo Xia introduced the development environment in his keynote address entitled "Promoting Sustainable Development of Finance and Talents & Creating a High-level International Financial Talent Highland."
