Business Education Cooperation and Chinese Enterprises Investing in ASEAN

On January 9th, the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Indonesia (FEB UI) jointly held a Seminar on Business Education Cooperation and a Forum on Chinese Enterprises Investing in ASEAN. 

The event featured speeches by several distinguished guests: Mr. Xuemin Xu, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Mr. Beryanto Situngil, Consul General of the Consulate General of Indonesia in Shanghai; Mr. Guangshao Tu, Executive Director of SAIF; Dr. Muriaman Darmansjah Haddad, President of Bank Islam Indonesia and Former Chairman of the Indonesian Financial Services Authority; Ms. Dia Setianingrum, Head of the FEB UI Dean’s Office; and Mr. Salmaueri Symangunsong, Vice Chairman of the Attorney Association of Indonesia.

In her welcome remarks, Vice President Xu emphasized Shanghai Jiao Tong University's commitment to building a world-class university through international education and global partnerships. He highlighted the recent establishment of SAIF's Southeast Asia Center, which aims to enhance the business school's regional engagement and competitiveness. 

Mr. Situngil expressed optimism regarding strengthening economic and cultural ties between China and Indonesia. He noted that greater humanistic exchange will likely promote further trade and investment cooperation.  

Executive Director Tu focused his speech on sustainable finance and investment. He outlined SAIF's intention to help Chinese enterprises expand globally through curriculum innovation, research excellence, industry collaboration, high-level forums, and practical opportunities. This includes a focus on sustainable development—an essential indicator of current and future economic progress that brings both opportunities and challenges.

The speeches were followed by panel discussions on Indonesia's economy, education, law, culture, as well as insights and recommendations regarding opportunities and challenges for Chinese enterprises looking to invest in Indonesia.
