On November 23, the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) held the opening ceremony for cohort XII of the Global Executive Scholarship (GES) program. Attendees included SAIF leadership, faculty from Arizona State University’s Carey Business School which jointly delivers the program, incoming students, and SAIF alumni.
Welcoming the new class, Professor Qigui Zhu, Secretary of SAIF’s CPC Committee highlighted the institute's excitement. Professor Ohad Kadan, Dean of the Carey Business School, attended virtually. Professors Hong Yan (SAIF Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs and GES Academic Director) and Baoming Shao (Carey Associate Dean of Asia-Pacific Programs) provided overviews of the GES coursework.
Keynoting the ceremony, Professor Yongding Yu (President of the Shanghai Pushan New Finance Development Foundation and a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences) analyzed China’s economic outlook and policy landscape from theoretical and practical standpoints.
Aimed at top-tier Chinese finance executives and entrepreneurs, the GES program focuses on honing financial acumen and leadership within a global context. On average, the incoming cohort boast 20 years of work experience including 15 years in managerial roles. Representing diverse sectors like finance, technology, healthcare and energy, 97% hold senior decision-making positions in their organizations.
