Professor Jun Pan, Professor of Finance and SAIF Chair Professor at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), has been invited to serve as Editor of the Finance Department of Management Science, a leading international academic journal, effective July 1st, 2026. She concluded her editorship of the Review of Finance on June 30th.
Professor Pan has served as an editor of the Review of Finance and an associate editor of the Journal of Finance since 2022, and previously served as an associate editor of the Review of Financial Studies.
Her 2022 appointment as editor of the Review of Finance marked a historic breakthrough, making her the first scholar from a mainland Chinese university to hold such a position at a top-tier international finance journal. This latest, seamless transition to Management Science underscores both her scholarly distinction and the rising influence of Chinese finance researchers in the global academic community.
First published in 1954, Management Science is now produced by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) and ranks among the oldest and most respected journals in economics and management — placing first among the UTD24 management journals and included in the Financial Times FT50 list. Professor Pan's appointment is expected to broaden the academic perspective of its finance section and enhance the diversity of its editorial board.
SAIF Chair Professors and Deputy Deans Yongxiang Wang and Xiaoyun Yu were previously named Associate Editors of the Sustainability section of Management Science in 2024. Together, these appointments reflect the international academic community's regard for SAIF's faculty and further strengthen the institute's engagement with global scholars.

About Professor Jun Pan
Dr. Jun Pan is a Professor of Finance and SAIF Chair Professor at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF), Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Prior to joining SAIF, she was the School of Management Distinguished Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Her research areas encompass Chinese financial markets, fintech, asset pricing, financial derivatives markets, credit risk models, financial crises, market liquidity, market microstructure, risk management, and fixed income markets. She has published more than 20 papers in prestigious international academic journals, including Econometrica, Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, and Journal of Financial Economics.
Professor Pan currently serves as Department Editor for the Finance of Management Science and Associate Editor of the Journal of Finance. She was the Editor of the Review of Finance and Associate Editor of the Review of Financial Studies. Since 2014, she has been a Senior Research Fellow at the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research (ABFER), and in June 2024 she joined its Executive Committee. She also served as a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and was consecutively named to Elsevier's list of “China's Most Cited Researchers” from 2021 to 2025.
Professor Pan has received numerous prestigious academic honors, including the 2015 Stephen A. Ross Prize in Financial Economics, the 2021 CICF Best Paper Award, the 2024 WRDS Best Paper Award, and the 2026 CICF XiYue Best Paper Award.
Professor Pan obtained her Ph.D. in Physics from New York University in 1995, and Ph.D. in Finance from Stanford University in 2000.
