Saudi Central Bank Delegation Visits SAIF

On May 21st, a delegation from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) visited Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). The delegation was led by Abdulelah S. Aldahami, Director of Letter of Credit Operations; Abdulmohsen F. Alawad, Director of Accounts Management; and Saleh K. AlShammari, Head of the Financial Equity Section under the Accounts Management Department.

The delegation was received by Professor Chun Chang, Professor of Finance and Huifu Chair Professor, along with Professor Jie Hu, Professor of Practice and Executive Director of Southeast Asia Center.

Both sides held in-depth discussions on China’s economic outlook and policy direction, trends in China’s international trade and investment, the impact of Middle East developments on China and Saudi Arabia, AI development and deployment strategies in Saudi Arabia, and potential areas for bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was also joined by Sharafi Alajmee, General Manager of the Business Department at Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) Riyadh Branch, and Rongya Su, Deputy General Manager of the ICBC Corporate Banking Department.

About the Saudi Central Bank

The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), formerly known as the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority, was renamed following a Cabinet approval in December 2020. It reports directly to the King and is responsible for formulating monetary policy, regulating the banking sector, and fostering international financial cooperation.
