CII CEO Matthew Hill Leads Delegation to SAIF

2026-04-22

On the afternoon of March 16, Matthew Hill, Chief Executive Officer of The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), along with Kenny Siu (Regional Director for Asia Pacific, CII) and Isabel Xu (Director of Education Innovation at the China-Britain Business Council), visited the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU).

The delegation was received by Hong Yan (Deputy Dean and Chair Professor of Finance at SAIF), along with David X. Li (MF Program Faculty Director), and Haiying Ni (Executive Director of the MBA Program). The two sides held in-depth discussions on cooperation in talent development and curriculum design in the insurance sector.

Professor Yan welcomed the delegation and introduced SAIF’s development and talent cultivation outcomes. He noted that while mainland China’s insurance industry is growing steadily, a shortage of high-caliber professionals remains, offering broad opportunities for collaboration. He proposed customized training programs for large insurers and the joint development of insurance courses for degree programs tailored to China’s context. Professor Li proposed exploring curriculum collaboration in family offices and wealth management.

Matthew Hill introduced the CII and its ongoing cooperation covering Hong Kong and Singapore. He expressed hope that this visit would initiate exchanges and collaboration with SAIF, and pave the way for joint training programs and conferences that leverage complementary strengths for shared growth.

As an international finance institution, SAIF has established long-term partnerships with leading universities and global organizations. Through diverse collaboration, SAIF builds high-quality platforms for international exchange, helping students broaden their global perspectives and cultivate internationally competitive financial acumen.
