I’ve realized since I’ve graduated from college that while school life comes and goes, the friendships built along the way are life-long. Studying at SAIF is no exception. Just semester ago, I was strangers to my class; now, these 100 students in my cohort are essentially family. Nothing builds friendship quite as quickly as a pressure-cooker learning environment. Together, we study and live. We gruel over never-ending deadlines. We share our ambitions and dreams. We console each other in failure, and root for each other’s success. Yes, SAIF is a great place to learn. But its people make this school special.

Following my undergraduate degree, I knew that I wanted to make a switch from engineering to finance and that I wanted to have an internationally-focused career. With Shanghai being a growing global financial center, and having visited China once before, SAIF was my ideal school.

Now that I am two semesters into the MF program, I can say that it has been very academically rigorous, which has helped create strong bonds within our class. Over the past Chinese New Year festival, I was invited by a classmate of mine to stay with him and his family. The relationships that I have built and the experiences that I have had outside of the classroom have added tremendously to the value of the MF program.

In this program, I am surrounded by some of the most intelligent people that I have ever met from all over China and around the world. As someone who grew up in Dallas, Texas and is now studying in China, this cultural aspect has been something that I believe sets this program apart.

International! This word that I would use to describe my first impression of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF).

SAIF MF allows me to enhance my knowledge in financial theories and strengthens my ability to use mathematical and computational methods in solving finance problems. The program curriculum coincides with my background in finance and math as well as my work experience in investment management and quantitative analysis. I desire to further enhance my financial and quantitative skills through courses and the financial database exploration series of Extended Learning and Student Activities (ELSA). In addition, by engaging in real business cases through SAIF LIVE and participating in internships during my time at SAIF, I look forward to further enriching my practical experience.

SAIF MF accelerates my professional development and facilitates the realization of my ambitions. I cannot wait to fulfill my passion in finance and develop a network with future business leaders. In return, I believe that I can share my experience with the fellow Master of Finance students, possibly helping them attain their goals as SAIF makes it possible for me to attain mine.

I offer financial advisory service to emerging startups, in particular those in Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) sector. Thanks to the days at SAIF, I managed to take the career path I prefer. SAIF delivered the knowledge transferred by faculty from different sectors, the experience shared by industry mentors, the advice from the staff at Career Development Center (CDC) and the brainstorm with classmates. Their unique insights were extremely helpful in my choice of career path.
