The launching ceremony was followed by a round-table discussion with the topic of “Chinese Financial Market and Policy Outlook”. “China depends too much on export and investment while consumption continues to fall”, Prof. Chang Chun pointed out, “therefore, the macro-economic policy has to shift from quantity control to price control. Furthermore, the reality that interest rate and exchange rate has long failed to be marketized shall be changed for containing inflation and the continuous increase of foreign reserve.”

Guests took an active part in the discussions of the policies and development of China’s financial industry. Lian Ping, chief economist of Bank of Communications, indicated that prudence and re-balance is especially important in the driving force of economic growth, consumption growth and policy making in China. Zhang Suyang, one of the partners of IDG, stressed the importance of the market force from the perspective of an investor. On other topics such as the complex economic environment, financial innovations and the optimal use of financial resources, professional opinions were exchanged to give an insight into these issues.
