Rice University (E)MBA visits SAIF

On January 10, 2014, a delegation of around 80 (E)MBA students from The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University visited SAIF and invited SAIF MBA students to the Bund for a joyful night event.

In the afternoon, SAIF full-time MBA students joined Rice students for a tour at SAIF including the state-of-the-art financial trading lab, classrooms and auditorium. The first meeting between the two school students never posed as any barrier. They soon mingled together and SAIF students were very proud to introduce the school and answer questions about SAIF faculty and strengths as well as their extra-curricular activities. Rice students, the majority of whom have never come to Shanghai, were impressed by SAIF’s top-notch facilities and fast growth. The students then proceeded into SJTU campus and heard the history about the many old buildings in the time-honored campus.

After the tour in the school, they went to House of Roosevelt, a nice historical establishment now turned into a high-end restaurant, for an evening event. Some part-time MBA students from SAIF also joined the event after work. Huston, the city where Rice University is located, is famous for prosperous energy industry, especially in oil. Not surprisingly, the majority of Rice (E)MBAs are from this very industry or will go to this industry after graduation, which draws a certain similarity with SAIF students who will be devoted to a same industry in the future.

Facing the breathtaking skyline of Lujiazui, the financial zone in Shanghai, the students from two schools talked about finance, energy, the opportunities in the Shanghai and Huston, and their future.
