Tao Wang is a Professor of Practice at Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF), Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Prior to joining SAIF, he was an Executive Director of the Commodity Desk in China International Capital Corporation. He has also been working in the Fixed Income Division of Morgan Stanley.
Professor Wang is currently doing research on China effect and global commodities price, Asian currency options and rare-event/uncertainty pricing and a phonological approach to reflecting the global banking system. He and the co-author Richard de Neufville presented “Identification of Real Options ‘in’ Projects” at the Sixteenth Annual International Symposium of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) and won the 2006 Best Paper Award. Professor Wang also provides consultancy to government and corporations.  He had been standing on the SASAC committee granting licenses to SOEs for derivatives trading.
Professor Wang received his Ph.D. in Engineering Systems at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2005.
