The China Hedge Fund Research Center (CHFRC) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was unveiled in Shanghai, accompanied by the China Hedge Fund Research Forum. For the first time, CHFRC published CHFRC indices, which offer a benchmark to the stakeholders who comprise China's hedge fund industry, both in China and across the world.

The China Academy of Financial Research (CAFR) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was officially incorporated in Shanghai. Focusing on research in the fields of IPO, M&A, investment banking, and corporate governance, the centre is committed to building a top-class think tank as well as constructing a platform for academic exchange to drive the transformation, upgrade, and evolution of the national economy.
In addition, the SAIF MF Action Learning Workshop raised its curtain, which coincided with the 5th anniversary of SAIF LIVE. This exceptional event invited a number of business and academic leaders to network with SAIF MF students, participants, and alumni.

A SAIF staff meeting was conducted  by Professors Wang Jiang (President and Chairman of the SAIF Academic Committee), and Zhang Chun (Executive President) to convey the history, mission, vision, culture, and values of the institution to every participant. The leadership solicited staff feedback to gain more insights on current SAIF operating norms.

Prof. Tyler Cowen, a highly recognized economist in the US and author of the best seller “The Great Stagnation”, was received at the SAIF CAFR lecture & the SAIF Financial e-Salon and presented a keynote speech entitled “The Great Stagnation in the US and the Opportunities in China”. The panel, including Professors Zhang Chun (Executive President of SAIF), and Qian Jun (Deputy Director of the CFRC), communicated with SAIF alumni from various industries on the future trends within China's economy.

SAIF held Alumni Day under the theme of “Unity and Innovation”.  Around 500 alumni returned to SAIF and presented their opinions and advice to their alma mater. On that day, the SAIF CAFR lecture had the honor to recieve Dr. Zhang Chenghui (Director of the Financial Research Institute at the Development Research Center of the State Council), and Dr. Liang Xinjun (Chairman and CEO of Fosun Group and a graduate of the first class of the SAIF DBA program), who shared their visions and insights on China's financial reform and globalization under the “new norms”.

SAIF Team vanquished a number of top institutions in China and abroad, and won the final round of the Hult Prize 2015 (Asia Pacific Division), an award jointly sponsored by Hult Prize Foundation and the Clinton Global Initiative. This fall, it will represent the Asia Pacific Region and take the field at the finale of the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Conference in New York.

The “Analysis on Macro Economy and Monetary Policy” seminar, co-organized by SAIF,  took place in Beijing. Nearly 60 experts, scholars, and researchers gathered to discuss and debate key topics such as “Framework and Transmission of Monetary Policy”, “Analysis and Forecast of the Macro Economy” and “Macro Economy and Financial Stability”. Professors Zhang Chun (Executive President of SAIF), Liu Jun (Professor of Finance),  and Zha Tao and Zhu Xiaodong (Distinguished Professors) also attended.

As organized by the SAIF MF Program, the 3rd China Young Leaders Financial Summit proved to be a success. Focusing on China's economy under new norms, over 160 undergraduates from nearly 30 top-class institutions across the Greater China Region exchanged their thoughts and opinions with experts, scholars, and industry leaders.

Two SAIF Master of Finance students will have the opportunity to be exchanged to Goethe University Frankfurt for the Master of Science in Money and Finance program for one semester starting from the autumn semester 2014.

CFA Institute Research Challenge in Shanghai 2013-2014 was held at Shanghai International Convention Center. Competing against CEIBS, Zhejiang University, East China Normal University as well as Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, SAIF team, composed of 5 SAIF MBA and MF students including Zhou Wei, Michael Custer, Xiong Yuzhou, Hu Lei and Chen Wenling, took the crown in the challenge and advanced to the Asia-Pacific Competition that will be held in Bangkok in April 2014 with the championship from Beijing challenge.

The 2nd Chinese University Students EXCEL Financial Modeling had its final round after 3-month competition. Competing against 200 teams from 100 Universities, Yuan Hong, Shen Ming and Fan Shaowen, students of Finance MBA 2012 class at SAIF, ranked top 8 in the contest.

The 2nd Asian Business Schools Desert Challenge was held in Tengger Desert, Alashan, Inner Mongolia. A total of 30 Asian business schools with over 400 students joined the challenge. The SAIF MBA team, Boat of Desert, composed of 16 students from 2011 and 2012 classes won the first among participating Shanghai schools and 4th among all Asian schools, and was awarded Best Communication Team.

Meanwhile, Qingdao Forum 2012 hosted by SAIF EMBA gathered around 350 people, including top management from Qingdao municipal government, state-owned enterprises, multinational corporations and private enterprises to discuss Free Trade Zone for China, South Korea and Japan and Regional Over-The-Counter.
